History of Male Strippers

Have you ever wondered how male stripping became a thing? Who thought of it, and how did it begin? If your answer is no then you might want to keep reading because even if you were not interested, you will surely be curious anytime now!

Male stripping was very unpopular before the 1970s. It was a profession only women were associated with, which was possibly due to the patriarchal mindset that men deserve pleasure, entertainment and all the fun.

It was only in and after the ’70s that male stripping started getting popular, and with time it became as popular as it is today! Initially, it was considered indecent and inappropriate for men to take off their clothes publicly. However, that started changing when strip clubs had male dancers.

Some of these strip clubs would have designated days for when the male dancers and eventually strippers would perform. That was strictly for ladies, as homosexuality was another thing that was unfortuantely often frowned upon as compared to today.

With time, the performances at strip clubs in big cities led to the male entertainers travelling to perform even in small towns. There have been reports which have stated that this was a novel concept to many people and the crowd of women they witnessed at these shows were insane.

The phenomenon was quite novel to people as with the popularity of male strippers, there were other movements like the pride movement and feminism were on the rise. Male stripping was initially very criticised as people could not digest the fact that men were stripping just like female strippers.

Eventually, TV shows and movies caught on with this concept, and for a whole decade, the film industry portrayed male strippers in different plots. With time, the appeal for male stripping scenes had increased which was one of the reasons why many movies made it a part of their plot.

When male stripping became more commonplace, it became obvious that it was something that attracted the crowd and not just women, but men too!

Today, male strip shows are very common, and they provide great value to clients and events of all sorts. Strip performances are carefully planned from costumes to performances, to playlists, everything is carefully decided to ensure that the audience stays entertained the whole time.
